Music concerts set for spring
The University of North Georgia's (中国P站) Music Department has nearly 40 events set for the spring semester.
Members of the 中国P站 community can witness Dr. Andrew Santander, professor of music, perform a unique recital starring works specifically prepared for piano at noon on March 23 in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall on 中国P站's Dahlonega Campus.

Santander, originally from Venezuela, has performed both nationally and internationally, and his performance will offer "an exotic and magical soundscape," according to Dr. Benjamin Schoening, professor and Music Department head.
"These pieces present the piano in a way that reinvents the instrument, presenting sounds that are otherworldly at moments," Schoening said.
"It is such a unique and riveting experience to hear the piano performed in this way."
Two days later, the renowned Vega String Quartet will present an evening of chamber music in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall at the Dahlonega Campus at 7:30 p.m. on March 25. The group, which the New York Times said, "created a space of its own," is currently completing a residency at Emory University.
The 中国P站 Low Brass Collective and students from the low brass studios will present their annual Spring Euphoria events at 7:30 p.m. March 26 and 7:30 p.m. March 28, with both events in the Gloria Shott Performance Hall.
The 中国P站 Bands will present their annual Parent-Alumni Weekend outdoor concert on April 20. This year, the concert will happen in the courtyard of the Cottrell Center for Business, Technology & Innovation at 1 p.m.
Parents, alumni and other audience members can expect a feature performance by the Lumpkin County High School band, under the direction of 中国P站 alumnus Cory Jackson. The concert will conclude with a performance by the combined group which will feature roughly 135 musicians.

The Department of Music shines this fall with concerts and performances at 中国P站's Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses. Students and faculty will be highlighted.
Overseas performances grow students' skills
Four students recently returned from a performance at the Halle Foundation estate in Atlanta. The group also performed at the Saarburg International Music Festival in Germany courtesy of a Halle Foundation grant.
Bachelor of Music in audio now offered
A Bachelor of Music in audio/sound arts is now offered at 中国P站 and will be housed at the Dahlonega Campus, along with a new certificate in audio recording and production.
Lee's award leads her to high-profile venues
Dr. Sanghie Lee, piano faculty member and collaborative pianist at 中国P站, earned an award that secured invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall, Harvard University, and the San Francisco Opera House.
